Time to take the SAT’s

So I’m attempting to sign up my 16 year-old for an SAT prep course. But it’s not that simple. These days, first you need to determine if your kid is taking the SAT or ACT. Since most colleges are now accepting both tests, you need to decide which you want to prepare for. I am told the SAT and ACT test different subjects so you need to consult with your child’s high school guidance counselor to discuss your child’s strengths and weaknesses to determine which of the two tests he should take.. Is he or she more inclined toward math and verbal or the sciences and language?

After that closed door meeting we then must decide if its going to be Kaplan or Princeton Review or a whole host of other review courses. Some say Kaplan better prepares you for the SAT while Princeton is better for the ACT’s. Others say the exact opposite. Some take both. Some students hire a private tutor for the SAT. Others, I’m told, just hire someone to take the test for them (just kidding–not really).
Wait, it gets better….there are now companies that will test your kid to decide if he or she is better suited to take the SAT or ACT. Essentially, its a test to see which test to take. And they charge a pretty penny for it. Have we all lost our minds???!!!
When did all this craziness happen?
